John L. (Jack) Hammett wrote plays and short stories in the Washington D.C. area starting in the 1940s and a number of his plays were performed by local theatre groups WWII and later, sometimes with Jack in the cast. In recent years he had recast a number of these one act plays as short stories, some of which are collected in the book  The Skylark Series of Short Fiction.
